We had a great time at our Enrichment Sessions Wednesday and Thursday this week! Thank you, students, for coming well-prepared to perform for your group. And thank you to Peace Church for so graciously accommodating us. For our Little Mozarts class, this was the first time to play in front of an audience other than our families, so that was exciting for the students to share what they have been learning! We always have a door prize when the students come in, and then we perform for each other. Miss Angie and Miss Susan introduced many composers from the Romantic Era in a power point presentation, and Miss Kelsey associated the piano music to each composer by performing short sections of their works. Some groups had two games for this session - "Romantic Red-Rover"(don't worry - a non-vicious rendition!) where we answered questions related to the Romantic Era or its composers. The other game was a spelling game to see how well we can remember the unique last names of these German, Russian, Hungarian and Polish composers. We reviewed the life of Beethoven, learned about Schumann, Chopin, Brahms, Liszt, Grieg, Gurlitt, Strauss, and Tchaikovsky. Thank you to Miss Angie for preparing the special cookies at the end of our classes. Next week: back to regular lessons - keep up the good practicing!
