Monday, December 19th at 7:00 pm we have a Holiday Recital at the Sterling Home, a retirement community on the northwest corner of Wintergarden and Wooster in Bowling Green. Students should arrive by 6:50 pm, dressed nicely in their "Christmas Festive" attire. Construction is still going on at the Sterling Home, but there should be plenty of parking on the south side of the building. You should also enter on that side, rather than the front entrance. We will have a teacher waiting to greet you at the door. If you have been there before, you will be surprised to see how things have changed! The main entry/dining area where we will hold our recital has expanded and is much more spacious. What a great way to end our piano year - listening to festive music! Please contact your teacher if you have any further questions regarding the recital.
Remember, THREE weeks off of piano lessons for the holidays - but please don't let that be three weeks off of touching the piano!!! We look forward to learning new music in 2012, and want to wish all our students a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
We had 23 students play delightful Christmas music at Come to the Stable this past weekend, and their performances were well-received by those perusing the nativity scenes at Bowling Green Alliance Church. Thank you for all your hard work in preparing, and for sharing your music with others! I received many wonderful comments about how well you did and how many people enjoyed hearing you play. Be sure to look here at the pictures we were able to get of many of the students. Congratulations to Mary K. whose name was one of three drawn to win a nativity in church's give-away!
This weekend (Friday and Saturday, December 9-10) is one of our performance events at Come to the Stable - where over 700 nativity scenes are on display at the Bowling Green Alliance Church (1161 Napoleon Rd.). We are excited to share our live music as people from our community come to look at the display. Students should arrive about 10 minutes before their scheduled time to perform. There is no admission fee, but if you would like to bring a few canned goods to contribute to the BG Food Pantry, there is a donation station set up as you enter. Students will need to sign the guest book as they enter the sanctuary, then come to the front near the piano. They will all sit up front until they perform, then they are free to walk around and look at the nativities. Students, please dress nicely in Christmas-festive attire. There will be snacks and refreshments in the back for all guests to enjoy. Music does not need to be memorized, just well-prepared for a performance. If you are unsure of your time to perform, please click here to see the schedule.
Only two piano lessons left in December. Our Christmas performances are coming up quickly, and students should be filling their homes with wonderful and cheery Christmas music as they prepare for these events. Who doesn't know and love Christmas music?! December is a great month to be sharing our music. I know our students are involved in many musical events, which we love to see and encourage! Be sure to support these and others in our local community - the Nutcracker Jazzed Up (Julie's Dance Studio), the BGHS Madrigals performing at the Holly Days and Tree Lighting, The Treble Makers (FUM) and various church programs, Come to the Stable (BG Alliance Church), Elementary, Junior High and High School Choral, Band and Orchestra Concerts. Just yesterday, Miss Susan and another area piano teacher, Ms. Joy Morin, performed a variety of holiday piano duets at the Sterling Home. The residents enjoyed singing along to these familiar favorite carols. It's a magical thing to brighten the world of those we love by giving the gift of music!
