Music Makers (ages 4-1/2 to 6)
![]() This first year of Music Makers capitalizes on your child's fascination with nature and love of instruments. Stories, songs and sounds from the world of nature are represented in semesters focusing on: My Home Place, Woodlands, Cattail Marsh, and the Meadows. Students are introduced to orchestral instruments and ensemble play, with high-quality recordings and full color posters.
While Musikgarten's ultimate goal is music literacy for children committed to the program, this Music Makers class is the first to introduce the visual of music notation through writing, drawing, and notation games. Singing games involve more structured choreography and coordination. Developmentally, this program focuses on building a child's aural (listening) foundation which leads to long-term success with music reading. In addition to building on students' symbolic thinking, concentration, memory and self-expression, they also experience greater enhancement of self-discipline and social skills. Helpful home materials and CD's enable parents to work with students on musical patterns and notation games, listening exercises, and singing games to include the whole family. Involvement of the family is the key to success in the learning process. Listen to a sample from this class!
